NMFS to hold off action on Amendment 16??
Some potentially good news to share; as you know we have been working with our friends and colleagues to see that NMFS would do an aged-based assessment on the vermillion samples in Beaufort.
Congressman Jones’ office (who we have been working on this with) called minutes ago and said that Dr. Bill Hogarth had called and said NMFS will indeed do the assessment and hold off action on Amendment 16 until the new aged based assessment is complete.
That is potentially great news and we look forward to seeing the NMFS letter confirming all of this.
Great work for all involved with this issue, it is proof positive that people can work together when necessary. Too bad it took this long for some to hop on board and get motivated to fight for what is right.
The Division, the NCMFC, and Congressman Jones did the right thing on this and ought to be applauded.
Still along way to go with other issues and other amendments but this is good news.
