Attached is a petition to list Warsaw grouper as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act. I've also attached the cover letter from WildEarth Guardians.
When you read the petition you see the real threat here is to protect the habitat as to do that means to stop fishing, period. This is another serious attack on fishermen by another wacko enviro group, this time their area of expertise is Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. I never knew Warsaws lived in those rivers and streams. Many will remember the attack this group did on White Marlin a couple years ago. This is a serious attack on fishermen as not only will the NMFS have to seriously consider if the petition has merit on the fish, they will have to consider the habitat as well. Since Warsaw room the south atlantic and the gulf, this threat has potential broad implications.
