KINGS FOR VETS
FISHING TOURNEAMENT
For the inagurlle KINGS FOR VETS fishing tournament June 18-19, 2010 we had 16 boats registered and compete in three categories king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and spot tail bass for the two top prizes. Several veterans where able to fish with the competing boats and go out and enjoy a great day on the water. Top two anglers in each of the three categories are listed below. Our top king mackerel was caught and landed by a Vietnam War veteran Charlie Libby on board charter Captain Rick Hiotts’ boat reelfishhead.com. Over $2000 dollars was raised during the tournament which will be given to military charities it was a great start and something to build on for next year. I hope all participants had a great time as well as our Veterans which attended and fished. I hope to see all again next year and thank you for your participation this year and hope the tournament can grow for next year and be even larger!

Just saw this post
Great Tourney good time
Wish we had more participation but given there were two other major tourneys that weekend its inevitable.
Anyway I fished and took out a vet and his wife. I was in unfamiliar waters however we had some hookups and one stick which went to our female angler first. She caught and weighed her first ever kingfish at 17.9lbs. She did a great job and was proud of her catch as witnessed by her walking down the dock with it over her shoulder Smile LOL wish i had a pic of that. My Vet guest got to fight and land a rather large shark so did get to turn the reel a good bit.
Next yr would love to see some active duty guys come down to fish , i'd be glad to take some out. I'm a retired VET and enjoy BS-n with the active duty guys.
Anyway guys put this one on your calendars for next year!
The cost of freedom is going up our sons and daughters are paying that price. This is a small give back from those of us who have the ability to share our passion with those that defend our right to pursue it freely.
This is not a money tournement which is even better as its all about the charity.
Great job and thanks for your effort Todd
